very nice

I'm if-y about the beginning, the music is good, but what's throwing me off about it is the fuzzy echo at 0:00-0:50. How the track starts with it I just found bizarre. But where it is in the rest of the song, it seems fitting in the song, but I can understand how it fits with the story a little. I also find the part at 6:24 to the end confusing. It's good, but I'm not sure how exactly it fits with the story. But I'm not an expert on ambient music and don't have an in-depth sense to it so I suppose it only natural I can't see it. Still though I like how strenuous you've made it sound, it as if you can hear the caution being taken in the story.
The rest of the song is just beautiful and one of the most entrancing pieces of music I've ever heard, I just love that. And for the most part (in my opinion) it depicts the story flawlessly. Just listening to this makes me wonder if a day will ever come when humans do discover another inhabitable world like Earth, that would be a very exciting feet for mankind.

I wonder if this will ever get animated... that would be interesting to see.

KKSlider60 responds:

It seems to me sometimes that some stories just beg to be animated in a near future. xD
Although I'm confused on what unsettled you at the beginning (either the white noise or the radio tuning noise), I respect your opinion and I'm grateful for your lengthy review. :D
Even if I think that the break right at the beginning of the last theme was needed in order to set another "dreamy" or "exotic" texture, I can understand if it sounds probably a bit rushed or unpolished.
Thanks again, buddy :)

Black coffee eh?

I don't drink coffee...

This is very out of the ordinary in comparison to the dubstep I typically come across, its relatively more calm. Its interesting to me how you've managed to use the idea of coffee as a basis for a song, its very creative and yes - probably very original. You got a nice musical flow going here. My only problem is repetitiveness in the first half. I was expecting some more interesting pattern variety as I listened to it. Still though, you've done an awesome job with the sound choice and usage. Its a nice piece overall.

Thank you,
Between you and me I like my coffee creamy and more on the sweet side haha.

Uplifting

I'm pretty sure this qualifies as trance.

The intro startled me a little, but that's ok - I liked it. The Xylphone sounds a little off pitch to me, it doesn't quite fit with the other patterns of the of the song. But this is still a very bright piece of music, alot of energy in this piece. Yes... it does get repetitive after awhile, but it kinda has a loop to it, which contributes to the fact that this does have a bit a flash potential. You might be able to add on to this if you so choose, if you do though - I recommend trying to give it more instrumental variety. It might help with the repetitiveness.

Overall though, nicely done.

Haha I couldn't think of the right genre for the life of me, so thank you for finally clearing that up for me. I'm open for the idea of adding to this song, and I would definitely add a few more instruments into the mix to keep it interesting. I'm glad you like the track too, because this is my best work by far. Thank you for your review!

Cool style

The intro has a really nice interesting buildup, I like how you've given this piece a very exotic sound. After about one third of the song though, I start thinking that this is more like a dubstep. But you've blended that incredibly well into this song. I found the rattling an odd way to end the song, but that's really the only thing that bothers me about this. The rest of this is really awesome. Virtually flawless in every other musical sense.

DreamEater responds:

Thanks so much Xenophaje!
I really wanted to incorporate a cool Dubstep break into Mr. Fiji's already great house climax to go for an almost "Feed Me" style track.
I'm really glad you enjoyed my trippy spacy buildup as well.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your review!

Divine

Its been quite a long time since I've heard classical music this serene and beautiful. I was actually starting to believe such talent had died out on NG, but seeing this proves me wrong.

Tones and pitch are flawless, the slow subtle transitioning is flawless, the melody is simply the most beautiful sound in classical music that I've heard in a good couple of years. Despite its slightly repetitive sound usage, the soothing sound of this - with the help of the excellent transitioning - completely makes up for it.

Just listening to this leads me to believe you are a musical genius when it comes to classic, that said - I hope to see more from you.

descara responds:

Really glad you liked it so much. I was worried the melodic material would feel mendearing, so hearing your feedback means a lot!

Metropolis gone bad

Its awesome, there is absolutely nothing I don't like about this piece. If I ever make a game, I'd probably end up using this at some point. (to bad I don't know how to make games)

popraz responds:

Thank you !

Outstanding

This better fits as being called trance... possibly DnB (I've heard some pretty trance-like DnB before)
I only give a ten if I think a song is abloslutely perfect - although I gave you a nine you still came pretty close to a 10.
I only have 2 small problem with this - not enough instrument variety, and its a little repetitive, but you've come up with the sounds to hide that very well I think - well done.

I've found myself entranced by the sound of this, its just beautiful. I wish I could make music like this, I wonder if I just don't have the tools (judging by the file size, you didn't use a ton of VSTs and plugins to make this - which tells me you have some very useful ones).

I hope to see more like this from you.

Thanks for the review!

I did take a look at some of your stuff, and you definitely have the potential to produce good music. I think you just don't have the right instruments. I used Nexus mostly leads to make this track, I think you should check it out as well.

As for instrument variety/repetitiveness, ehhhhh I'll work on that.

Cool sound

First of all, this score deserves to be higher... five for you!
2.01 (+0.99) = 3.00

As I'm listening to this, I think it sounds like rave music. Definitlely got and epic feel to it, that's for sure. Its been a good while since I've heard a good hardcore techno song.
There isn't much I see wrong with this - its not repetitive, the patterns it follows are flawless, the snyths are almost perfect (for my taste), some percussions bother me a little but this song is good enough for me to get past it. I am unsure the potenial of this in the flash portal.
It might one day get put into a game, what kind of game I am not quite certain.

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks for the 9 man, glad you liked it.

I'm not really concerned about whether this is used in a flash or not, it'd be cool for sure, but I'm just uploading my stuff for the sake of uploading it.

Interesting

Music always inspires imagination my friend, it works the otherway as well.

This is a very bright piece of music, however I find it repetitive, you never go very far into more vibrant and louder sounds, I suppose that is to maintain the basic image the song was ment to portray but honestly I feel that you should have allowed this for it may have made the song sound more adventurous and alive, not that it doesn't I just hink it could sound more so is all.

But as for the basics of the song I see nothing wrong, All instruments seem to be played accordingly through the song, it never goes off key or tone, and its overall sound is pretty good.

Overall you did a fairly good job with this piece.

Tomppaah responds:

Thanks for the awesome review, and the pointers! :) Really glad you took the time, and hopefully you enjoyed it. ^^

Interesting

The sound kinda reminds me of the very begining of Metroid Prime 2 when your exploring the underground Galactic Federation layer.
It aslo sound like something I'd hear in Dead Space (I've never actually played dead space though)

The loop in this is impossible to notice I swear.
I get an image in my head when listening to this like I'm looking through a camera that barely works and I'm seeing these futuristic ships scouting over what looks like the remains a of a destroyed space frigate.
It does have a post apocalyptic feel, but its more futuristic, I like that though. Its very rare I come across music like that. As is this is good, but if you ever decide to add music to this, I recommend going easier on the usage of some of the glitch noises, in particular the ones that sound like broken comunicators.

KKSlider60 responds:

Yes, I agree with you about the broken futuristic environment. It's a mixture of post-apocalyptic and cyberpunk culture. I'll be more careful about the glitches. :D
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed it
