...Epic

When I first started listening to this I was kinda expecting it to be more 8-bit (you surprised me)
Actually I think this almost sounds robotic, in my opinion such an epic piece should go with such an 8-bit intro - given how it sounds. but hey - like I always say "its your music - do what you like to it"... not like I can't make any small exceptions to things I like any how, this is really good. Actually I think I'll fav this

It kinda sounds like the theme of some kind of old robot sanctuary... you know I wonder if it would fit into a metroid game... (one of the more recent ones of course)

KKSlider60 responds:

The rise of mechanical Chocobos, a prelude to self-destruction. Robotic frenzy, madness, power-driven creatures fighting in a now living hell. To bring order once again in land of chaos.

I just thought of this while reading your review, that'd be cool as a prologue or something, haha. Post-apocalyptic Chocobos, half robot, half organic. Lol. I love Metroid music, and I like the idea of this being in a just-awakened robot sanctuary... if that place were to be completely forlorn, I think it would "sound" much differently. I'll post that sound texture later.

Thanks for your review, man, much appreciated. ^^

it seems like you used the ticking like a metranom

which is fine... now... about the song. It has a very nice solemn feel to it, kinda like looking at a childhood memory. This has some flash potential, nicely done. It just seems a little repetitive, perhaps more sound variety could fix that (at least for me).
but over all its very good.

MasterCoyle responds:

sounds like a metronome? Damnit. It's supposed to be a clock ticking. I agree about the repetition and ill probably repost a rehash of this tune soon. Thanks for the review.

It wouldn't surprise me to see this in a flash.

Futuristic but with a unique twist to it, that's the kinda vibe I'm gettin' from this, very bright kinda sound to it, could depict a futuristic city from like a sky very.
Their are so many games this brings to my mind so I'm not really gonna bother listing them. This song has a LOT of potential for being used in my opinion, it would make great NES style background music right off the bat. I think it also sounds like good credit music for a game.

I don't see many negatives to this, the only real problems I see in this is that it is a tad bit of repetitiveness and the way it ends doesn't sound right, I think it should with more a 'phase off into the distance', I don't think it should just go down low, now if you were intending to give it sort of a loop then that kinda works, doesn't quite work though

I really think this is an awesome piece of music though

Thanks for the review

pretty good for a pokemon battle song

You remixed it very well, you give it the nice tension that a good pokemon battle song should come with (at least in my opinion) but it sounds like their might be some sounds that re missing... One thing though it sounds rather repetitive. I can tell its kinda progressive, but I don't think that it is very noticeable - I would recommend making it more progressive - adding perhaps a wider variety of instruments - perhaps something new, that might make it less repetitive,
just a thought. (that's what I would have thought to have done any way)
but overall pretty good

qwasedral responds:

Well I see what you are saying, but the reason it is repetetive is becasue the acyual song is just a loop, so that's that. But thanks for the feedback!

Something sounds... off

I'm not sure what exactly, the sound choice I find odd but then again I can imagine finding a good alternate sound wasn't easy. The instruments sound all relatively the same. Some bits in this I am unfamiliar with... although it has been quite a while since I heard the actual song. The instruments all seem to have a dull pluck, which evidently makes it sound sort of blurred. I don't know if that was intentional or what. Other then that though it seems fairly constructed. The tone seems accurate overall. I just think it sound rather dull and a little boring... I found the original to give a more creepy sensation.

CheckeredZebra responds:

Ey, fair enough. It is meant to sound blurry, so that it would loop well over long amounts of time (not get annoying.)

A lot of the parts are in the original, I matched it up to the R/b/y version as accurately as I could. And the lack of the "Creepy" feel you mentioned was due to there not being a suitable instrument to give off the rough vibe that chiptune can. Wish I knew one, but I just couldn't find the right thing =/

Oh My God...

I can only dream to make music like this... I'm serious, you are now my greatest NG Idol... (and I have looked at you other works before deciding to say that)
This is one of the best pieces of music I ever heard... EVER. (And I've heard a LOT of great music)

TiGeR responds:

Hey Xenophaje!

Wow that's a compliment like no other. Thanks a lot :)!

Woah... Just woah...

I love the way you dissipate one rhythm into the next and then with sudden shift.
It seems a little hesitant in the beginning. The eerie bells should lower in volume I think as they are drawing my attention away from the better bits of the song in some parts more towards the end. But over all its got a vibrant tension to it and I really like that. Overall really great piece.

It gives me awesome images in my head.
(Keep reading if you want to know what I see, otherwise the review ends here)
When I hear this, while in a daze - I am looking at a planet and gradually moving deeper into its atmosphere to gaze upon what lies on its surface, and then I begin moving across its surface viewing its different terrain. Starting from its dark side - I first gaze upon what appears to be a dark waste land with very rugged terrain, then I slowly begin to see bits of green and trees, soon I am crossing over a forest that grows denser and denser. From the distance I come to a mountain range. Just beyond the tip of its peak, there appears to be a glow.
As I grow closer to it, I begin to lower to it until I'm just beneath the tips of its peak. As I cross over the glow brightens and then dims as I gaze upon a vast, futuristic city, as I cross over it I look around and see all the vibrant colors and glows in windows and on signs in strange characters I can't read. I can see the corona of the horizon (sunlight) in the distance. But then I begin to rise and begin to just move straight up and away from the planet. I move back through the clouds. As I look back on this planet it seems much more colorful then when I first descended to its surface.

KKSlider60 responds:

Radiant skyscrapers, suspended in clouds at an incredible distance from the ground, as if they seek to escape from the atmosphere. A radiant white, outshone by a setting sun, whose rays enlight the last features of the great Sky City - a symbol of a culture, the triumph of symbiotic machinery and sentient beings, guardians of their own planet. Utopian world, as watched from afar... Who knows what secrets holds, who knows what story the Universe has to tell us in front of a cracking fireplace, whose flames of time warmed our very existence since the beginning of everything.

I like it...

But personally I think it needs higher more vibrant harmonic rhythms and clearer. The drums make it seem more like a house song to me but that's just what I think. The piano's tone doesn't sound quite right in some, it doesn't sound as upbeat as the rest of the music, perhaps give it either higher pitch or have it play on higher notes. I really like your usage of the snyths though

moobella responds:

Yay thanks :D
Ohhh yeah now that I think about it, it does. Well I didn't make the drums cuz I was lazy, but I really didn't know what beat to put here instead :/ And I don't know much about the different genres in electronic, so I never know what to put my songs in... Thanks for saying that though :)
Ohhh riight. The piano does sound gross and boring since its lower pitched. I try to use a variety of octaves and stuff, so it doesn't sound cluttered... *Changes it* Oh my god it sounds AMAZING! :D Thanks for telling me. I won't repost it though.
And thanks for the review 0u0

pretty good.

While it does loop well, the way it plays out - it just doesn't sound quite like a loop.
But since its a WIP, that might change.
Parts of this sound like dance, but there are also parts that sound to me like trance and video game music.
Your sound choice is interesting to me, I find it to be out of the ordinary in a good sense.
The spot in the middle that sounds like a lullaby, either its out of place or the transition after it is a little too hesitant I think.
Overall pretty well made

EnvythisRoadRunner responds:

Thanks for the review. Honesty I didnt expect the delya to mess up the "loopage" XD I'm still trying to learn how to work all that out <:3

I'd call that a boss theme...

NOT a boss battle song a boss theme... that's what I call it anyway.
You did a good job with bringing that feeling to life, Kind makes me think of Bowser from the mario game (more specifically paper mario).
Actually if you added some faster rhythm to this you Might just be able to turn it into a battle song... maybe, I'm not quite sure though.

The some of the sub-rhythms are a little quiet though, the main melody kinda drowns them out a little. But other then that I think its good.

tfk17 responds:

Thanks for the feedback :D Yeah it IS kinda loud, but I didn't know how to adjust that at the time. And I meant confront, not boss battle. As in the general preparing to fight, like whipping out a sword and having a staredown. I'm going to work on an actual Boss battle song later too. For now, I'm only uploading one other song than the one I have, so please give feedback there as well :)

This site is so swell I'll give this site all my sanity... whatever is left of it that is...
