In singing this you make a very interesting point

You did a good job with the lyrics, they blend well with the music in general. That bit at the end where you tried to overlap one set of lyrics with another, I don't think that it really works.

monkeybars responds:

All good. I can remove that. Thanks for the good review

It's beatutiful

Sure its creepy, but I really like the way it was made, when I hear music I have visions sometimes, this is giving me ones that are so vivid, I could probably write a story about it.
Eerie and tattered but with a small sense of loss and suffering, that's what I feel from it. I'm keeping it as a favorite. Perhaps it will reawaken my will power to write stories.

The voices and sound effect really add to it, I feel like I'm not listening to just any old haunting ambient music, I feel like I'm listening to the real feelings of being haunted, if only I had the ability to create such a masterpiece...*sigh*. My skill is far beneath this I'm afraid.

Well you can at least make flash submissions. *sigh* The best I did was use Windows Movie Maker and make a tiny shitty flash in flash. Once I get Adobe Soundbooth again, I'll be back making more mixes and SFX. ^_^

pretty good

You have a fair rhythm, but the note pitch and tone of the notes are off a tad.
I like your use of the piano, I think its clever. About half way through it just turns into a game boy song though, not that there's anything wrong with that I just think its a little random. You have an interesting way to capture the sounds together, I like it.

Raymoclaus responds:

Thanks, but I don't see how the note pitch is off. Yes, there is nothing wrong with a gameboy song, and nothing wrong with being random either.

This makes me think of metroid

I could really see this in the metroid prime series. I think this would go good as the background music in metroid prime 2 in the sky temple just before you fight the Emperor Ing (Final Boss... well... sort of).

Some bits of it remind me of bits of my own work, although that's not to say they are very similar - I think that most of my music is very different. By the way did you make this in FL Studio?

The sound makes me think of evil insect creatures, it sounds like a fusion of electronic and medieval music to me - that's probably just me.

I know how trying to use the notes to make it sound creepy but, they sound a tad off, although I could believe this is the closest you could get them to sounding right.
This deserves an 8

DENT-de-lion responds:

Evil insect creatures playing electronic medieval music - now that's a cool image! Thanks for the review! No, I don't use FL Studio (even though that seems to be what everyone uses). I use Jazz++ Midi Sequencer to write my songs, and then I add soundfonts and FX through Synthfont. About the notes being a tad off, at 2:29-2:30 and that whole build-up, it was pretty rushed. I just wrote that part yesterday and fine-tuned it a little today before deciding I had to upload this version to Newgrounds. Thanks for pointing that out, it needs to be fixed!

Nice!

Very snazzy but with a hint of darkness, I like that. The snyths in some regions seem slightly off pitch though. Other than that its good enough to get a 9

Bassmeisters responds:

I'm glad you'd like it! ;) thanks for the 9 ! A hint of darkness is always good!

Cheers mate!

Very digital

When it starts it makes me think of a phone call to be honest with you. I assume you were trying to make glitch sound fit into it, if you were you didn't do half bad a job. But the sounds are a little repetitive. The low snyth is almost perfect, I just think its kinda quiet, increasing its volume might make the song have more variety.

Now, I think you could remake this into a trance song.
High upbeat trance would go perfect into this I think.
but its your song, you like it 8-bit - keep it that way.

By the way - I'm not apart of the RRC, just to let you know...

Croire responds:

Thank you so very much for te critique! I'll make sure to work on the low synth levels!!!

Its good.

Now where in a game would it go? hmmm....
Probably the background music to traveling through a futuristic city. But where in the it exactly I'm not quite certain.

Very relative and kinda evil. It make me think of one of Eggman's bases in the earlier sonic games.

What plugins in FL Studio did you use? I have FL 10 as well and I think the sounds I could use to add something new to my work. (Sound wise)
It won't do me much help if used one of the plugins you have to buy because I have none of them...

RainOfTheRelentless responds:

Sytrus and Harmless are really good, but I believe Samplers are the best for using sounds if you're a beginner.

its not bad

but the tones go off in some parts, its also rather repetitive, I can hear the changes but they are very vague, and hard to notice. You need a greater instrument variety, that's what I think. However the basic beats are good and the general pattern Idea is too. Based on how it loops I'm going to assume its a work in progress.

doomshock responds:

thanks and thats exactly what i was thinking, i just have a hard time adding instruments melodically.

hmmm... pretty good

Its very quiet. And very generic, it sounds like it was meant to depict a very sad and dramatic scene in something. you hold up a little in some areas, where it isn't needed.
You seem to know soft tones well. It may appear in a flash.
I find it depressing though but, the slow steady rhythms are well made.

michaelt15 responds:

Thank you. I will keep that in mind next time I write something :D

A fair start

I think you should ad a soft melodic tone earlier into it but this is pretty good.
The way the ending sounds makes it seem unfinished I think. The ending is also the best part, that's where it really starts sounding like a real house song. The rest seems like the just the basics of it, however they are very well made. One more thing, yous seem to be hesitant to show change to its rhythm as it progresses, ease up on transition time length.

Pivvot responds:

Alright, cool thanks.

This site is so swell I'll give this site all my sanity... whatever is left of it that is...
